Need to Rehome My Abused Pitbull - SPECIAL ADOPTER NEEDED

Description

I adopted my 3 year old pitbull Scout last December from Baltimore County Animal Shelter. He is the cutest dog I've ever seen and such a charmer. I don't know much about his history, all the shelter disclosed is he came from a bad situation. My vet thinks someone tried to cut his ears off. When I got Scout, he was not housebroken or potty trained. I paid thousands of dollars in training and training retreats and now he is housebroken. He's come so far and is eager to please. Scout is very skiddish and startles easily. Noises really set him off. On two occasions, he bit my dad. Most recently, he attacked a dog in my apartment complex. I have come to the heartbreaking conclusion that I'm not the correct home for him. I am a petite woman and he's so strong. Even with a pinch collar, I can't control him and therefore I can't be the responsible dog owner I aim to be. It's not fair to others or to Scout because if god forbid he really hurt anyone, what would his fate be? To me, Scout has been loving and loyal. He's come such a long way, has a good heart and so much potential. I love him and this breaks my heart. Most of the time he's fine, but he can't be around kids, other dogs or cats. A big ask, I know. If you live alone and have a big yard and want a guard dog/loyal companion who will sleep at your feet and give you kisses and make you laugh everyday - he's your boy. I'm also open to suggestions for rescues or sanctuaries who could take him on. I just want to give him the best chance because he's a good dog and it's not his fault people have tortured him. I love him so much and it's truly the hardest thing I've ever done. I just want to do all I can to give him the best shot at a happy life.
