MORRISTOWN, NJ — Fighting COVID-19 in October was a tough one for former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, but he told Patch that it was made easier due to the "extraordinary" care he received from everyone at the Morristown Medical Center. "From the minute I got in until the minute I left seven days later," Christie said. "The doctors who brought me in, were incredibly attentive, and detailed." Christie, who served as governor from 2010 to 2018 entered the hospital on his own volition on Oct. 3, became one of the public officials connected to President Donald Trump to be hospitalized for the coronavirus. And while he was hospitalized, he was alone due to COVID protocols. "I was in isolation. So my wife couldn't come and see me. It was that was one of the toughest parts of it," Christie said. "People don't really think about the psychological part." But Christie said the attentiveness of the Morristown Medical Center staff made that burden lighter. "The nurses were the same, very detailed, very attentive, very communicative with my wife, Christie said. "And so the nursing staff in particular and the doctors, both were very communicative with my wife to keep her up to date on what was going on with my condition and responding to any questions that she had. And they would say with me, I mean, I couldn't imagine getting better care." Christie said previously that, now that he's had the virus, he can be sure of a few things: It is something to take very seriously. The ramifications are wildly random and potentially deadly. No one should be happy to get the virus, and no one should be cavalier about being infected or infecting others.Read more from Patch's interview with Christie: 'No Safe Place:' Christie Urges Masking After COVID-19 BattleChristie Tells Trump It Is Time To 'Move On' From Election LossEx-Gov.
