Enjoy live music from local artists, painting in the park, blankets and baskets-style dining, lawn games, hand dancing, food & dessert trucks for the whole family in celebration of Hillcrest Day. This event is an opportunity to build community with neighbors and friends of Hillcrest, receive community updates from civic leaders, and learn more about Hillcrest Community Civic Association (HCCA). Hillcrest Day Highlights:  * Afternoon day in the “park” with family, friends, and neighbors — all are welcome * Bring Your Own “Blankets and Baskets” with food and snacks for you and your family to enjoy * Music and live performances by local artists, instrumentalists, and band (Dev Duff, Benjamin Gates, and Bliss) * Hand dancing * Park-style painting with easels, brushes, and paint supplies * Community Garden Tours and Planting Demonstrations from the National Wildlife Federation * Family storytime and craft activity with DC Public Library * Lawn games * Food and dessert vendors on site  * Community updates from civic leaders and local organizations * A moment to relax in beautiful green space and have some fun Best Blankets and Baskets Contest We encourage you to Bring Your Own Blankets and Baskets, and get festive with decorating. During the event you can enter your display to win a grand prize for the best Blanket and Basket display. Judges will focus on visual aesthetics, blanket design, basket layout, and yummy snacks. Here’s some decor inspiration. “Paint in the Park” Community Art Installation In celebration of Art All Night weekend, HCCA is providing individual canvasses, art easels, paint brushes, and paint for the community at Hillcrest Day to showcase their creativity. Porchfest in Hillcrest We invite you to join us the very next day, Sunday, September 25th for the 4th Annual Porchfest DC Southeast Edition, a neighborhood music festival on porches in Hillcrest.
