Description
Meiko is a 5 year old Korean Jindo who has been with our family for three years. We are rehoming him because our toddler is not able to respect his personal space and boundaries and he is getting increasingly anxious around her. Meiko would be an amazing dog in the right home and we are very sad to see him go. He would be a good fit for a home with no pets or children and few visitors. He only needs to go outside 2-3 times a day and would be a great apartment dog, but he would also do well with some land to roam in the country. He is a great guard dog, and will bark whenever anyone comes to your house.
He is loyal and low maintenance in many ways but is very anxious and has some issues due to his traumatic past (he was rescued from a meat market when he was approximately 2 and may have been abused or neglected). He is nervous and barks when around new people or when people come in the house and can be intimidating. He will not let anyone pet him besides immediate family. He could benefit greatly from proper socialization with a professional trainer or owner with this type of experience. Because of his past, he has some boundaries that need to be respected (he likes to sleep in and doesn't like to be touched in the morning, for example) and likes his personal space unless he come up to you to be petted.
I can provide a lot more information about Meiko's temperament and our experience with him to anyone who is seriously interested. However, we need to rehome Meiko as soon as possible so please only contact me with serious inquiries, taking into account his particular needs. It will likely take time for him to warm up to a new owner and you need to be ready to work with him.
We are asking for a rehoming fee of $150.
