About ExhibitTradition Transformed: Sally Dillon Retrospective exhibits a narrative of memories through the lens of the quilt – smaller pieces assembled to form a greater whole. With a background in art and sculpture, holding degrees from Mount Holyoke College and the University of New Mexico, Sally utilizes fiber art to record memories. The subjects of her work often come from traveling, hiking, and kayaking near and far and are always first recorded in a sketchbook, many of which are also exhibited. Instead of cloth, she used tea bags, paper, and wood as the substrate for her paintings. Many of her drawings and accompanying photos become paintings that are then grouped as a series into a quilt. The assembled piece becomes a narrative of memories from a place, with views of varying scales and angles.
This exhibit will be open from October 20 to November 4
