Description

Hi there, I teach a martial arts system that is almost 100% principles based. These principles include balance, coordination, looseness and pliability, tactile/spatial/kinesthetic sensitivity, body unity, adaptability, etc. They manifest into a form of "body intelligence" that is then applied combatively. There are almost no "techniques" to learn or memorize in what I teach. This is a huge advantage in a self-defense situation when one is fearful and it is difficult to think clearly. Most of my earlier martial arts training was in combat sports and specifically judo, wrestling, western boxing, and Muay Thai. I later transitioned into the Filipino martial arts and then into various combatives systems such as Carl Cestari's, Lee Morrison's and Kelly McCann's programs. Finally, I studied the commonalities of these and other arts, including "internal" ones, and what made them effective from a principles and concepts perspective. The culmination of those is what I train now. I call it the CBI System. (Combative Body Intelligence System). Just an fyi, there is no reference to it online. I only teach as a hobby so I haven't made a website. One key benefit of what I teach is that it is one of the few systems that allows a smaller person to "somewhat" negate the advantages of strength and power inherent in a bigger person. (Notice I wrote "somewhat," as size, strength and power are almost always advantageous in a self-defense situation). As mentioned, another benefit is that it doesn't require students to "memorize" any types of responses, techniques, patterns, etc. We base almost everything on random movement. My training partner should have a focus of self-defense, and body intelligence development, such as improving balance, as training objectives, as opposed to a desire for competition, such as you would find in a combat sports school. Thanks for reading. FYI-Classes are held every Sunday from 10:30am-12:30am.
