Signal boosting a discussion on Reddit re: open mics and jam sessions.
-----------------
I have been attending the last few informal open mic/jam nights at the Olalla Community Club (every other Thursday 6-9pm; next one is Sep 29th) and really enjoying playing and listening. Aside from that, we sometimes make the trek up to the Seabold Second Saturday events on Bainbridge, which are a little more performance-oriented, but it's quite the drive from SK.
What other live music playing opportunities are around Kitsap? I would love to hear about both private jam groups open to visitors and more public venues for playing and just listening. I'm no great musician, but I've gotten a lot better a lot faster through playing with other people and it's much more fun. I've met some really amazing people that way, also.
Bonus points if you can describe the general vibe or genre, food/alcohol/420-friendliness, available amenity/backline, other restrictions, etc., to help someone decide if that's something they'd like to check out.
Near-Kitsap is also worth mentioning; I cross The Bridge every day for work so I've already paid my $5.25; might as well get maximum value for the trip.
(As an aside, I would love to think that there is sufficient musical activity out here to be worth having an r/KitsapMusic or somesuch.)
