The Marquette Center for Data, Ethics, and Society and the Center for Cyber Security Awareness and Cyber Defense present a Symposium on Ethical Hacking as part of our October Cybersecurity Awareness Month activities. This event is presented in partnership with SIM Wisconsin. Join us on October 6, 2022 for a morning of conversations and networking on ethical hacking and the importance of teaching cybersecurity concepts as a foundational component of all computing and information professionals' training. The event runs from 8:30am-noon on Thursday, October 6, 2022 in the Lunda Room at the Alumni Memorial Union, Marquette University. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. A Microsoft Teams link will be provided to remote participants prior to the event. Tentative schedule: 8:30am - Registration opens 9:00am - Welcoming remarks 9:10am - Featured presentation Olivia Liddell (Amazon Web Services) - "Teaching and Leading with a Security-First Mindset"10:00am - Break 10:20am - Practitioner Panel discussion on Penetration Testing and Bug Bounty Programs 11:00am - Education Panel discussion on Education and Training for Ethical Hackers Khaled Sabha (University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee)Rafat Elsharef (Milwaukee Area Techincal College)11:40am - Collaborative Discussion on possible further interaction between corporate & academic stakeholders Featured Speaker: Olivia Liddell (Amazon Web Services) Olivia Liddell is a Solutions Architect at Amazon Web Services, where she specializes in AWS solutions for game development. Over the course of her career, Olivia has created innovative teaching and technical training solutions for learners from diverse backgrounds and skill levels. She is a Certified Ethical Hacker and frequently speaks on topics such as social engineering, security awareness, and mentoring. Olivia is a former Chicago Public Schools teacher and is currently the Chairperson of the Chicago Teacher Residency Alumni Network Board.
