Our city has undeniably reached a crisis point when it comes to supporting our most vulnerable community members who are experiencing houslessness or housing instability. There is a immediate need for solutions to this crisis, but there is also a need for our us to think about the greater future of Portland and how we can act now to ensure that we are fostering a more closely knitted and supportive community in the future that will be able to adapt to the ongoing threats of climate change, economic instability, social injustice, and future challenges.
Gensler Portland will bring together a community group made up of professionals working in development, master-planning, housing and supportive services, mental health, and social science to offer their expertise and develop a framework for local architecture firms in Portland to charrette. During our Sustainable Building Week event, we will be exhibiting the outcomes of the charrette, and hosting a discussion with our community group on their responses to the potential ideas and solutions.
