The Cap Times presents a harvest celebration for 'Madison Chefs' at the newly renovated Bandit Tacos & Coffee, featuring local chefs and live music from Gaines & Wagoner. 'Madison Chefs: Stories of Food, Farms and People' was a project four years in the making. It involved dozens of interviews with chefs, farmers, line cooks, cheesemakers, bartenders, mentors and so many more. We were excited to celebrate -- but unluckily, the book happened to launch in the dead of winter, in the midst of a COVID variant wave. So we're celebrating now! Join us Wednesday Oct. 5, at the beautiful, newly remodeled Bandit space on West Washington Avenue. We'll be featuring many of the chefs (and their food) from the book, among them Dan Fox (Heritage Tavern), Gil Altschul (Grampa's Pizzeria, Gib's and Bandit), Francesco Mangano (Osteria Papavero), Francesca Hong (Morris Ramen) and Patrick DePula (Salvatore's Tomato Pies). For music, the husband and wife duo of Chris Wagoner and Mary Gaines will play an eclectic mix of Americana—original and classic tunes ranging from folk to jazz, bluegrass to blues, honky-tonk and a little singer-songwriter on the side. The cost of a ticket includes passed apps and one specialty cocktail from the Bandit bar. Books will be available for sale from Leopold's Books Bar Caffe. Media support provided by The Cap Times.
