Peggy, enrolled Cherokee tribal member, lives in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. Her work has been in juried exhibitions of major art shows and exhibitions including Santa Fe Art Market and the Smithsonian Museum of Indian Art. Numerous museums have collected her baskets including The Heard Museum, Red Earth Museum, The Museum of Anthropology, and the Wiggins Collection in Little Rock. Her work was photographed for an article in Native Peoples Magazine and the National Museum of the American Indian Magazine. An interview with Susan C. Power is included in Power’s book, Art of the Cherokee, Prehistory to the Present. Her presentations include the 40th Annual Smithsonian Folklife Festival, and the Tribal Archives, Libraries, and Museum Conference. She was a National Curator and Fieldworker for the Carriers of Culture project at MSU which culminated in a Smithsonian Folk Life Festival for Native American Basketweavers. Join Peggy as she teaches you the authentic art of Native American Basketweaving. Supplies and drinks will be included in your ticket cost.
