About the Role: Reporting to the Facilities & Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Mechanic assists with the upkeep of our facility and equipment in our Vacaville food manufacturing facility. The ideal candidate can assemble, inspect, install, and test current and new equipment to ensure operational proficiency in a fast-paced environment. This is a unique opportunity to be part of the early team at Thistle’s brand new East Coast facility, located in Burlington, NJ, responsible for launching and growing Thistle East operations to bring delicious, plant-forward, and planet-friendly meals to customers on the East Coast. Pay starts at $26/hr! What You'll Do: - Ensure production lines and machines are set up for operations continually - Schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance, service, and testing for all equipment - Inspect machines regularly for signs of malfunctions, including visual and sound inspections - Use a variety of power and hand tools to perform job functions - Read, interpret, and follow equipment operation manual instructions - Clean, repair, and install equipment and parts as needed; collaborate with management to update parts inventory - Collaborate with management and other team members to ensure operational efficiency at all times - Maintain documentation of work performed, including PMs and work orders - Follow industry best practices, company SOPs, LOTO, and all other safety protocols/procedures - Perform root cause analysis and troubleshoot equipment failures - Repair racks and work tables as needed - Perform other job tasks as assigned - Operate, repair, and maintain all types of motors and engines used to power pumps, compressors, and fans - Performs a variety of tasks related to building maintenance and repairs requiring advanced mechanical skills - Operate, repair, and maintain refrigerant compressors, condensers, evaporators, traps, transfer pumps, expansion valves, stop valves, and float valves, in addition to all refrigerant lines and devices utilized in the control of temperatures - Schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance and service for each piece of equipment - Inspect machines regularly for signs of malfunctions, including visual and sound inspections - Operate, maintain, and repair air compressors, distribution lines, and all valves and devices for air control - Troubleshoot and repair equipment safely and document accordingly What You'll Bring As A Maintenance Mechanic I: - High school diploma or equivalent - Successful trade or vocational school completion - Minimum 3+ years experience as a maintenance mechanic or similar role - Valid CA driver's license - Forklift experience preferred but not required - Strong mechanical and manufacturing experience - Electrical and mechanical troubleshooting skills - Welding experience preferred - Excellent written and verbal communication skills - Strong problem-solving skills; know when to elevate issues to management - Ability to remain calm in emergencies - Solid time-management, multitasking, and organizational skills - Able to work collaboratively with different teams throughout the facility - Ability to walk and stand for long periods - The ability to manually move, lift, carry, pull, or push objects up to 50 pounds.
