Join the Roanoke Valley Violence Prevention Council for the 15th Annual "A Walk in Their Shoes," Domestic Violence Awareness Event. Together, we walk in solidarity with survivors, advocates, and victims' families.
The event will feature a domestic violence survivor and an honor and remembrance ceremony by the Salvation Army's Turning Point. Names will be read of women, men, and children of the Roanoke Valley (and beyond) who lost their lives as a result of senseless violence. After a moment of silence, everyone is invited to walk as a symbol of our commitment to not be a silent witness to the violence happening in our community and to the people we love. The event will also include a resource fair for participants to learn about the services available in our community.
FREE to attend. Open to the public. Everyone is encouraged to wear purple or one of our signature shirts.
Resource FairThe RVVPC invites you to take part in the resource fair. Each organization will have a table, and a tablecloth. Organizations are welcome to bring their agency tablecloth.
Set-up for the resource fair will begin around 11:00 AM.
We are currently seeking 20 organizations to participate.
