Description

Become a certified Duct and Envelope Tightness (DET) Verifier in Nebraska and learn how to perform testing as required in the 2018 IECC. In this Certified DET Verifier course, you will learn the basic building science concepts and math skills related to air leakage, duct leakage and ventilation in homes as well as other basic energy code concepts. This will allow you to conduct leakage tests in new homes as part of the IECC testing requirements for confirming airtightness of the envelope and duct work. In existing homes, you can offer retrofit sealing of ducts, walls, floors and ceilings to improve comfort and reduce utility costs for homeowners. Specific topics include: Protocols for blower door and duct leakage set up and testingCalculations for ACH50 and percent duct leakageProper completion of the Energy Code Certificate required for complianceWritten exam on testing concepts and field exam on equipment setup and operation are included in the courseBenefits of getting DET Verifier certification DET Verifier has recognition in multiple states, under testing requirements for Illinois, Florida, Arkansas, Louisiana, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Nebraska.Certified DET Verifier is a “one and done” certificate and has no annual maintenance fees (states may require additional fees or continuing education).If desired, this course prepares you for the option of attaining Building Performance Institute’s (BPI) Infiltration and Duct Leakage (IDL) certification. BPI exam fees are separate.CEUs: AIA and ICC. Certifications: Duct and Envelope Tightness Verifier. To achieve designation as a DET Verifier, a student must receive a passing score on both exams (included in tuition costs). Lunch will be provided each day.
