Learners age 9 and above will be introduced to Scratch while learning coding basics in this fun, introductory workshop while animating their name. At the end of this workshop, students will have created a program while learning about sequencing, event listeners, loops and graphics. Learners who have completed Hour of Code will find Scratch to be a great next step in their learning journey.No experience with Scratch is necessary but experience with a keyboard and mouse is required. A Scratch account is recommended in order to save projects. Not only is Scratch fun, but by using blocks (think digital LEGOs®) instead of text, emphasis is placed on learning coding fundamentals rather than worrying about the syntax of a programming language. Scratch also brings together communities of content creators by allowing Scratchers to share their work, remix and learn from others.
