Want to add to your family and give back to the world at the same time? Adopt a dog, cat or other animal from a local shelter or organization! Despite the coronavirus pandemic, facilities in Springfield and environs have dogs, cats and other kinds of pets ready and waiting for someone to take them home. There are thousands of dogs, cats and other animals of all ages, sizes and breeds without a home in Illinois — and many of them are located within driving distance. In the search for an adorable new fur child, consider looking around at a local animal shelter like Animal Protective League, where Mia the cat is waiting patiently.
