Join us this National Coming Out Day for a special Oklahoma City screening of PRAY AWAY the Netflix documentary that explores the narratives of former leaders and a survivor of the “conversion therapy” movement who speak out about its lasting harm and its devastating persistence.
While over 20 states and U.S. Territories have passed legislation to protect LGBTQIA+ youth from the harmful practices associated with “conversion therapy”, the fight to achieve similar success statewide in Oklahoma continues. The screening will be followed with a panel discussion featuring survivors of "conversion therapy", mental health experts, LGBTQIA+ advocates, and faith leaders who will reflect on the themes of the film. Come learn, connect and get plugged into a movement working to advance liberation for LGBTQIA+ Oklahomans.
This event is being hosted by Multitude Films, Free Mom Hugs, Good Faith Media, PFLAG Norman, Oklahoma Confernce of Churches, and Rodeo Cinema. Community partners include: PFLAG Oklahoma City, The Gayly, NorthHaven Church, Diversity Center of Oklahoma, First and Congregational Church of Norman UCC.
