The Columbia Gorge Cooperative Weed Management Area (CWMA) is hosting a field tour at Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge! We will spend the morning learning about the Steigerwald Reconnection Project from Doug Kreuzer, Restoration Ecologist with Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership. Following the field tour, we will gather at 54°40′ Brewing Company for lunch. With Halloween right around the corner, costumes are strongly encouraged! This is your chance to show off your best Halloween getup to your fellow CWMA partners!  About the Steigerwald Reconnection Project Through the Steigerwald Reconnection Project, the Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge fulfills its promise as both a haven for wildlife and an Urban National Wildlife Refuge, greatly enhancing habitat for aquatic and terrestrial species while partnering to address critical community needs. The $32 million project restored a direct tie between Refuge lands and the waters of Gibbons Creek and the Columbia that has not been seen in generations. As wetland habitat improves, so too will the quality of life for Refuge neighbors, through flood protection, jobs, and the health benefits of a deeper connection to nature. Registration is on a first-come first-serve basis for CWMA partners and members only.  Please note: Be sure to wear sturdy shoes and prepare for inclement weather.Please carpool with friends and colleagues, parking is very limited at the refuge.We strongly encourage all attendees to refrain from leaving any valuables in their vehicles.  Agenda 8:30am-9:00am Gather for coffee and snacks at Steigerwald Lake National Wildlife Refuge parking lot. 9:00am-11:00am Tour of Steigerwald Reconnection Project with Doug Kreuzer, Restoration Ecologist with Lower Columbia Estuary Partnership. 11:00am-11:30am Pack up and head over to 54°40′ Brewing Company for lunch. **Lunch will not be hosted by the CWMA. Payment will be up to attendees. 11:30am-1:30pm Lunch at 54°40′ Brewing Company. The back room is reserved for our group. See you then!
