MDCGC is excited to host a first-ever book club event with Taylor Harris, author of This Boy We Made: A Memoir of Motherhood, Genetics, and Facing the Unknown. We'll enjoy a reading from her memoir, a Q&A session with the author, and small group discussions.
We ask that all attendees arrive to sign in at 1:30pm. The reading from the author will start promptly at 2:00pm, so please plan to arrive beforehand. The event will be located at *Pavilion D* of Centennial Park; map and photo attached below.
We ask that all participants come having read the book and ready to participate in discussion. Looking to borrow the book? It may be available from your local library. Free audiobooks and e-books are available through many libraries with the Libby app. Hard copies and e-books are also available for purchase on Amazon.
The only cost of registration will be for the CEU fee; if you do not want CEUs, there is no cost for attendance. Light snacks and refreshments will be provided. After the discussion, participants are encouraged to stay for socializing and networking with fellow MDCGC members. We hope to see you there!
The National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC) has authorized Maryland and DC Society of Genetic Counselors to offer up to 0.2 CEUs or 2 Category 1 contact hours for the activity MDCGC Book Club 2022. The American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC) will accept CEUs earned at this program for the purposes of genetic counselor certification and recertification.
