Description
OSWEGO, IL —The Oswego Police Department issued 51 citations to motorists for seatbelt and child safety seat violations during a holiday season traffic enforcement campaign that ran from Dec. 18-Jan. 3.
In a press release, police said officers also issued one citation to a motorist found driving on a suspended or revoked license and another to a motorist for no insurance.
Oswego police had joined with other law enforcement agencies in participating in the campaign which was intended to reduce highway fatalities by getting impaired drivers off the roads and more people buckled up.
During the campaign, police placed extra emphasis on traffic enforcement during late-night hours, when statistics show the most unbuckled and impaired driving fatalities occur.
The campaign was made possible by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns.
