Expect to be greeted by friendly Nigerian Dwarf Goats at Etiquette Coffee in the Downtown L.A. Art District when you arrive for a creative workshop like no other. Enjoy a relaxed afternoon sipping iced tea and hanging out with friendly goat models who will be poised n' ready to inspire your next art project! Instructor, Andrea Tan will teach simple techniques on drawing, composition, as well as how to stain paper with natural dyes such as coffee, beets, and turmeric. Discover various ways of creating backgrounds, collages and how to incorporate found items into your masterpiece. Andrea is an artist who has taught for 10 years, she specializes in therapeutic art, helping budding artists create with confidence in a non-judgmental space. Her favorite medium is clay and paint. She is the creative genius behind some of Etiquette Coffee's most beautiful ceramic mugs! Wear something you don't mind getting dirty. Can I pet the goats? Yes! They might even point out to you with their noses, exactly where they'd like to be scratched! What should I bring? There should be plenty of free street parking on 8th and surrounding streets. $10 parking is available at 1250 S. Santa Fe Ave. If you park there, walk through the alley to meet us at 2406 E. 8th St. Are the goats potty trained? Nope! Fortunately, they are vegan though, which makes their dry, coffee bean-like droppings virtually scent-free. We clean up goat-related messes as they occur. Is art experience necessary? All levels are welcome to join. Our instructor, Andrea will be there to guide participants through simple, easy-to-follow steps. You are encouraged to go at your own pace whatever your experience level. Are materials included for the art workshop? Yes, everything you need to create a unique finished mixed media collage will be provided. Can I keep the art piece that I create? Absolutely. The art you create is yours to keep.
