Meet new friends and help us celebrate our 2022 honorees. Enjoy the 360 photo booth, cigar bar, cash bar and don't forget to stop by the silent auction! Babysitting services may be offered as well-please reach out to [email protected] if you are interested in requesting babysitting services for children ages 5-14 years old. Roman Medical Society, a 501(c)(3) organization, is the Dallas-Fort Worth National Medical Association (NMA) chapter. Founded in 1895, the NMA represents over 30,000 physicians and their patients in the United States. Our goal is to improve the quality of health in our communities through: Community Health Education Numerous Community Town Hall/Fireside chats/Presentations concerning COVID-19 and the myriad of issues associated, from vaccine hesitancy to ensuring the accuracy of information presented to our community. Upcoming Event: 10/08/22 Southwest Center Mall (Redbird Mall) Strive for Life Community Health Expo in partnership with 100 Black Men of Greater Dallas/Ft. Worth, 100 Black Women of Greater Dallas/Ft. Worth, and Parkland Hospital. Advocacy Onsite presence at the Joppa Community Juneteenth Celebration distributing calls to action and common signs and symptoms of lead poisoning in the community due to the “Shingle Mountain” history. Mentorship Multiple instances of peer-to-peer interaction with residents from UTSW Medical Center, Medical Students from TCU School of Medicine, Summer Shadowing opportunities for college and high school students in Society Member’s offices or facilities, and onsite presentations to DISD Career Institute South students to push them to consider medicine. Community Engagement Walk with a Doc at Juanita Craft Diabetes Health and Wellness Institute Multiple professional society interaction events for synergy and networking collaborations. One of our core missions is to increase opportunities for minority students in science and the field of medicine. By increasing student opportunities, we recognize that we also increase access to and diversity in the medical field. Black trainees make up only 6% of medical school students. By investing in these medical students, you will be giving them an opportunity to further and complete their medical education, thereby developing thriving physicians that will serve the DFW area and beyond.
