Dear Friend of Rotary,
In 1915 Paul Harris, Founder of Rotary, was celebrating the 10th Anniversary of Rotary, and wrote in the February issue of The Rotarian magazine:
"We are passing our 10th milestone now. May our happiness increase with our usefulness. What Rotary will be one hundred years hence, none living can imagine. There is nothing impossible to Rotary now."
In March of 1920, the Rotary Club of Fairfield was formed. Now as we celebrate the 102nd anniversary, we are proud to be one of 33,000 clubs in over 200 countries around the world. What astounding growth as Rotary has grown to be an international organization!
Throughout our Rotary Club's history, there are many stories of impactful local and international projects that our club has contributed to and many more of our members who helped our club thrive while helping others.
We want to celebrate this club's successes and look to the future with hopeful optimism with our Centennial Celebration Dinner on Saturday, October 15th at the Fairfield Golf & Country Club, home of our club since 1962.
To highlight our message on October 15th will be a most outstanding world renowned humanitarian ambassador, Charlie Wittmack from Des Moines. He uses his unbelievable athleticism (like the Ultimate Triathlon) to focus attention on pressing needs of developing countries, and you will learn his many feats and the many organizations he has supported.
As former club president, and on behalf of all Fairfield Rotarians, I sincerely hope you will come celebrate with us and enjoy fellowship and comradery in the Rotary manner. Our Rotary Motto, "Service Above Self," should shine through this extraordinary evening!
In Rotary's Service,
John Loin, 2019-2022 President, Rotary Club of Fairfield
