6PM- 7:30PM – Flamenco Beginner Technique and ‘Sevillanas’
This is a two-for-one class where we will start off with some flamenco technique (Arm work, footwork, palmas, body alignment, flamenco movement stylization) and end by learning the 4 ‘Sevillanas’ verses. ‘Sevillanas’ is a fun partner dance that has four parts and is performed during Feria in April all over Andalucia Spain.
Flamenco is a series of powerful rhythms and movements- ‘armwork’/braceo, hand clapping/palmas, rhythmic body movements/marcajes, ‘foot work’/zapateado
We will learn the movements and connect in tandem with the rhythm in order to feel flamenco- to dance. Once you move through the technique part of the class Cristina will guide you through the twists, turns, and stomps of this powerful dance. It is a great opportunity to try something you always have wanted to experience or a new interest. Everyone welcome! No previous experience necessary. Join the fun!
