SAN DIEGO COUNTY, CA — Cal Fire lifted its burn permit suspension Monday in San Diego County. The suspension had been in effect since May. As of 8 a.m., people with current and valid agriculture and residential burn permits are allowed to resume controlled burns on designated burn days, according to Cal Fire. "Cooler temperatures, higher humidity and the chance of winter weather have helped to begin todiminish the threat of wildfire," Cal Fire officials said in a news release. Burn permits are required for all agriculture and residential burning. Agriculture burns must be inspected by Cal Fire prior to burning, and inspections may also be required for residential burns. "Property owners and residents are asked to use caution while conducting debris or agriculture burns, follow all guidelines provided, and maintain control of the fire at all times," officials said. Individuals can be held civilly or criminally liable for allowing a fire to get out of control. Residents planning to conduct a burn are required to verify it is a permissive burn day and record their intention to burn by calling their local Cal Fire station.
