Dog Comics Productions is running a benefit show Saturday Oct. 15th. at the Ballroom at Mckay to help out Sophia and her family. Sophia is an amazing 8 year old girl who loves giraffes and dancing. Sadly, at the end of Sophia's 2nd grade school year, she was diagnosed with Stage 5 wilms tumors (tumors on both her kidneys.) Sophia was diagnosed at the beginning of May with her first round of chemo started two days later and has had 12 chemo appointments since. In August doctors removed Sophia’s entire left kidney and half of her right kidney. Since then she has been undergoing dialysis treatments and staying in the hospital. Her next steps are 30 rounds of chemotherapy over the next 30 weeks that started at the end of August. Families that have to fight these battles deal with much more than most people see. Such as the emotional and financial stress they endure while their child is battling cancer. Our goal with this show is to help with the financial stress as much as we can. We also hope to help with the emotions of the family by giving everyone an evening of laughter. Doors and bar open at 4pm as well as the start of the silent auction. Comedians will go on stage at 7pm and following that silent auctions winners will be announced. Tickets will be $10 for entry. There will be comedy from host Chase Richard, guest Nicole Melnyk, feature Donte Lillard, and headliner Adam Degi. Silent auction will feature gift baskets from multiple sponsors including Grand Rapids Gold, 12th House GR, 616West, and more! We hope to see you there!
