SATURDAY • NOVEMBER 5 • 7:00 PM Long time FCC faculty member, Dr. Paula Chipman, celebrates her retirement as head of the FCC Music Department. Come join us for an evening of wonderful vocal solo and chamber music. ABOUT DR. PAULA CHIPMAN Dr. Chipman has taught voice at Frederick Community College for more than 31 years and recently retired as Professor of Music for the College. She earned a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Kansas; a Master of Music from Arizona State University and a Doctor of Musical Arts from the University of Maryland, College Park. Before coming to FCC, she studied in Graz, Austria, at the American Institute of Musical Studies, and the Hochshule fuer Musik in Vienna, Austria. She has performed with the Vienna State Opera Company, the Vienna Chamber Opera, The Austrian Radio Chorus, at La Scala Opera House in Milan, Italy, and at the Salzburg Festival, Salzburg, Austria. Teaching positions include teaching voice at Rice University in Houston, Texas, Mesa Community College, Mesa, Arizona, and Northern Virginia Community College. Dr. Chipman performs as a soloist for churches and community organizations in the Washington, DC, metropolitan area, and many of her former students are currently working in the music profession.
