Capt Yak is a Veteran owned and operated business. This one-of-a-kind experience and departs 1 -1/2 hours prior to Sunset! Capt Yak will guide you through the Preserve on comfortable tandem kayaks as you make your way to Shell Key, an undeveloped barrier Island across from Ft. Desoto in an 1800 acre preserve. We will land on Shell Key or one of the Sand Bars to watch the Amazing Sunset! On the return trip your kayaks will be fitted with underwater lights to light up the bottom that will be sure to attract fish. You will also be provided glow necklaces that add to the experience. Throughout the tour Capt Yak will immerse you with local history, ghost stories and provide facts about the wildlife and preserve. Tide levels permitting we will paddle through one of the mangrove tunnels. Don't worry about getting tired, your route will be based on the tide and wind to make the paddle as easy and enjoyable as possible. With nearly thirty years experience conducting field research and working in the zoo field, Greg has acquired a vast amount of knowledge that crosses over to his passion of kayaking Shell Key Preserve.
