"The liar (Devilcrat) tired to include the military as a social program. The military or defense of the country according to our Constitution is one of the few things the government is supposed to be doing." Interesting....You think that since the government is supposed to do it....... it can't be a social program. The constitution also says we must insure domestic Tranquility, promote the general WELFARE, and secure the Blessings of Liberty. To fulfill these other requirements we have initiated free k-12 schooling, social security, medicare/medicaid and many other programs etc etc. These are all social improvements, designed to promote domestic tranquility, and the general welfare. By your own reasoning, these can't be social programs because they are mandated in the constitution. Your problem is that you think a social program = socialisms. This is not the case. BTW. You bitch and moan about countries that are not capitalists. You throw out terms like Socialism and you don't have a clue how it really works. China has an army too. They didn't do that because their "constitution" called for it. Are we now socialist because our government forces us to give them our hard earned money to be distributed into all the programs, including the military that is required to fulfil the terms of the constitution? There are few, if any, societies on this planet that are 100% socialist or capitalist or communist. In this day and age, all thriving societies incorporate multiple aspects of overlapping attributes. People in China can own land, buy a car, raise a family just like we do. The only difference is the restrictions placed upon them by their government, just like we are subject to certain restrictions from our government. There was a time in America when it was illegal to drink alcohol (Prohibition)...a time when minorities couldn't use the same water fountain as whites..(Jim Crow) (Segregation)..we have had laws on the books that would limit what you could do with your wife in the privacy of your own bedroom.....there was a time when the government could arrest you for suspicion of unamerican activities (McCarthy era)...there was a time when you could lynch a black man in the south and not be prosecuted..(KKK).. there was even a time when you could own slaves. Through all of it, we called ourselves capitalist despite the regulations of a changing government. Does that sound like the America described in the constitution. If not, then what kind of country were we then? Fascist? Socialist? Communist? Ironically, all those terrible times, cited above, in American history, were the result of conservatism. They were all founded in fear, based on religious or conservative southern values. What a sad commentary for anyone who claims to be republican and support conservativism. You could really use a history lesson.
