Clinics are scheduled for Oct. 6 and Oct. 20 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Both clinics will take place at the Woburn Senior Center at 144 School St., where they'll be open to Woburn residents and employees. The Oct. 6 clinic will have shots for anyone ages 18 and up, while the Oct. 20 clinic will be open to those ages 5 and up. Pre-registration is required at the following links: Oct. 6 (18+)Oct. 20 (5+) Standard flu vaccines will be available alongside high dose vaccines for those who are over the age of 65 or who have certain health conditions that require higher doses, as noted in the city's event announcement. The CDC recommends that individuals get vaccinated against the flu in either September or October, if possible, to maximize protection during the height of flu season. The Woburn Mayor's Office is hosting next month's clinics in conjunction with the Board of Health. While planning flu vaccinations, Woburn is also running free COVID-19 vaccination booster clinics for residents and people who work in Woburn. Remaining COVID-19 vaccination clinics include dates on Sept. 15 and Oct. 13. Originally scheduled for Oct. 6, the October booster clinic has been rescheduled to Oct. 13. Contacted on Thursday, Woburn Board of Health nurse Alyson Roche said this change aimed to accommodate new regulations for administration with the bivalent COVID-19 vaccine, which aims have broader coverage against the recent BA.4 and BA.5 COVID-19 strains.
