What Does It Mean to Be A B Corp?We'll kick off our evening's presentations with Craig Hill, Vice President and B Corp Banking Director at Beneficial State Bank, teaching us about what it really means to be a B Corp. In this presentation, attendees will learn: An overview of the history of the movement and phases of growth with B Corps,What it means to be a B CorpThe different between a Benefit Corp and a B CorpA dive into the certification process and the various areas of the assessment (a convenient area to use the bank’s experience and structure to illustrate)Resources that exist to aid in certification, along with best practices should you consider certifyingZoom in a bit to the Oregon market and Portland-Metro in particular, talking about B Local PDX and the various events and programming offered to all, even not certified B CorpsBring the idea central to day to day operations, including in selecting partners like banks and other service providersAbout Craig Hill, he/him pronouns, Vice President and B Corp Banking Director at Beneficial State Bank With over a decade of experience in the B Corp community, Craig has spent the past eleven years at Beneficial State Bank, where he took part in guiding the bank’s initial B Corp certification and subsequent recertifications since 2012. During that time, he also served as Certifications Chair of B Local PDX for over five years, helping dozens of other companies through the B Impact Assessment and the B Corp certification process and navigating their way from discovering B Corps exist to helping companies recertify. Change for the Better: B CorpsIn this presentation, co-founders Michelina Roth and David Roth, will discuss what it means to strive for a Stakeholder economy, contrasting the Shareholder Primacy model pushed by Milton Friedman to the current B Corporation movement to consider all stakeholders. They'll discuss the new rules and regulations for ERISA fiduciary standards and the pending SEC ESG disclosures. Finally, they'll take a look at the UN Sustainable Development Goals and other standards to counter greenwashing, to include de-mystifying the ESG performance myth.​ Michelina Roth (she/her), Co-Founder and David Roth, (he/him), Financial Planner, Fair Planet Advisors Along with her husband David Roth, Michelina co-founded Fair Planet Advisors as part of her commitment to building a just and sustainable world for all in her personal and professional life.
