Have something precious you don’t want anyone to find? Stick it in a book! Continuing our series of creative objects workshops, this one will be about creating hollow books. Hollow books have been popular for centuries, used to hide anything from a wallet to a flask of wine. At this workshop will also explore and discuss other creative ideas and variations, such as using a book as a tissue box or stacking several books to form a larger container.
Each student will be able to select from a selection of books provided by the center, and we will provide other tools such as glue, brushes, ruler and specialty knives. This workshop is suitable for most ages, but please keep in mind it involves using sharp knives, so we expect our students to be proficient and careful in handling sharp objects. Students who wish to hollow-out a specific book of their choice may bring it with them, of course, and we recommend sticking to books with a hard cover.
