High levels of animal welfare require disease immunization and veterinary treatment, proper housing, management, nutrition, humane treatment and humane slaughter. Animal welfare refers in particular to the living conditions of animals; the treatment of animals is described by other terms such as animal care, husbandry and humane handling.
