Specifically: Masks are required when inside.A brief screening, involving temperature taking, will be conducted during registration.********************************************************************************************* ***************SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE********************** Day One: November 4, 2022 9 a.m. - Small Farm Conference Registration Begins (SSC Building) -------------------------------------------------------- 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. - Hands-on Training Clinic (UMES Research, Extension and Teaching Farm at Steward Neck Road) - Seed Saving & Plant Propagation Techniques - Building & Constructing Your Own Bee Hives - Strategies Controlling Wildlife Damage -------------------------------------------------------- 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. - Luncheon, Keynote Speaker (TBA) and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony ----------------------------------------------------------- Off-Site Farm Bus Tours ( Note: Buses will be filled to 50% capacity.) 1:30 - 4:30 p.m. Tour A - Perennial Roots Farm - We grow exclusively non-GMO open pollinated heirloom plants and raise heritage breed pigs, sheep, geese, chickens, rabbits, and turkeys. Our goals and practices are a synthesis of biodynamic rhythms and principles of permanent agriculture. Tour B - San Domingo Community - San Domingo, Maryland, was once a bustling African-American farming community dating back before the Civil War. Today, a small group of family descendants is working hard to preserve what little remains of the settlement, including the history, culture, and self-sufficient farming practices.
