When parents learn that their child , whether a young child or an adult, is LGBTQ, responses vary wildly. At best, the news may be greeted with joy as the child can celebrate their true identity. In some cases, parents may find themselves closeted with their child. At worst, they might completely reject their child. Very often, parents find themselves on a journey of learning about the community that, prior to their child coming out, they never thought about. In the PFLAG Parents panel we will hear from parents and grandparents as they speak about their experiences with their LGBTQ loved ones coming out to them, their reactions, how they supported their kids and how understanding of the LGBTQ community has changed since their children came out.
