Description
Corporate Executive Challenger, Donna Sirianni, Founder of Moving Forward Strategies I am thrilled to share that I am raising money on behalf of Moving Forward Strategies for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) through Light The Night’s Executive Challenge, a fundraising competition amongst Long Island business leaders. After learning about their "Dare to Dream" project, I really felt inspired to participate this year. They are funneling in donations to help fund this project for children. There are a fraction of treatments for children, so LLS became one of the first non-profits who took initiative and got approval for the FDA to run their own trial research program for children (see video below). The goal is to identify the mutation causing the illness (which is different for each child) and create a "pill" specific to that mutation to cure their disease. Their Dream Project is the bigger, bolder, next phase of the LLS Children's Initiative. LLS recognizes kids are different and their blood cancers need to be treated differently, so they are daring to change the paradigm of treatment and care of pediatric blood cancers through this $175 million investment over the next five years. The dream is to help as many children as possible get treatment for their cancer so they can both survive and thrive. I am also participating this year because someone special to me just beat Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma a year ago and shared that this foundation is what really helped him navigate through everything he had to go through. This foundation provided him with an abundance of resources and I'm happy to say... he is better than ever today! I know I am setting a big fundraising goal of 100k, but I really want to help make a difference and believe there are people who own companies/ businesses/firms out there who might be able to make a larger donation to help reach our goal faster. Aside from that, every little bit helps, so thank you if you are donating even a much smaller amount! By giving a donation today, you can help children like Harper. At just 10 weeks old, Harper was diagnosed with a high-risk form of blood cancer, infantile Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia with the MLL gene rearrangement. With a 10% prognosis for survival, she was immediately admitted to her local Children's Hospital, began IV chemo treatment, and enrolled in a brand new LLS funded clinical trial. Throughout her tough journey, Harper has never wavered, proving to be a strong and fierce little girl and now almost 5 years later remains in remission. Funds raised through Light The Night allow LLS to fund treatments for patients who are suffering from all forms of blood cancers. Since 2017, LLS has helped advance 85% of the blood cancer treatment options approved by the FDA. If you would like to make a direct donation today to continue to help patients and their families across the country, you can click on the link below! Thank you!
