Description

Hi, I'm Josie Grooms working on my senior Capstone project for Columbia Central High School. My interest in radiology and pathology inspired me to learn more about women's health. I'm researching breast cancer in young women and organizing a fundraiser charity walk to benefit "YSC" (Young Survival Coalition). My goal is to bring the community together and raise awareness of early detection of breast cancer while raising funds. The donations to YSC helps to educate and empower young women to be their best own health advocate; providing information, resources, and support from diagnosis through long-term survivorship. Although breast cancer is rare in young women, they generally face much more aggressive cancer along with a low survival prognosis. These women come across many challenges in life because of their diagnosis at an early age. The walk will start at the Jr. Order Pavillion in Maury County Park. It will be a one mile loop, water and snacks will be provided. Thank you for joining the walk!
