Writing About Intimacy
On Saturday, October 1st from 6-8pm, Jarrad DeGruy will be hosting a creative workshop at Apartment for Lifestyle at 2201 Dumaine Street, New Orleans Louisiana. The first section of this workshop will focus on discussing the theme; Observing and depicting intimacy in writing, film, art, performance etc. as it specifically pertains to the experiences of Black/Indigenous/POC who may also identify as Queer/Trans/Gender Nonconforming. How are we feeling about depictions of intimacy in media? Are we satisfied? Stimulated? How might we use writing/storytelling/art to manifest revolutionary and healthy forms of intimacy in our own lives?
The second half of this workshop will serve as an open space for participants to share/create testimony, fictional pieces, art, poems, songs etc. which align with the theme of intimacy.
Finally, the workshop will end with a live reading of an excerpt from The Miino Diaries.
Participants should arrive on time as the space is booked for a set time.
