With a life dedicated to the pursuit of the impossible, at 28 years old Derek McKee is already one of the entertainment industry’s most established magicians. Since the age of 13 he has performed around the world showcasing his unique approach to the art. Having already had an illustrious career creating magic for the live shows and TV performances of some of the most highly regarded illusionists in the world, it’s now Derek’s turn to re-take the spotlight with this unique experience. This Is Only A Trick is a contemporary, stylized and unique experience seeing Derek present his ground breaking performance exclusively in the intimate setting of the Hollywood Roosevelt theatre. Since 2003, magician Derek McKee has gone from child prodigy to one of the most important voices of the international magic scene. With multiple businesses and accolades across the magic industry and strong relationships with some of the biggest names in the art, Derek has laid the blueprint of what it is to be a magician in the 21st century. Among his achievements, Mckee has served as the magic talent scout for three seasons of NBC’s hit show America’s Got Talent, has created magic for shows on The Las Vegas Strip and international tours, produced theater for Off-Broadway, launched his own playing card brand “Pure Imagination Projects” which has gone on to sell over 200,000 decks of cards and are sold in magic shops around the globe, the original print run of the critically acclaimed “Cherry Casinos” sell for upwards of $1500 USD in the secondary market making it the most valuable and sought after contemporary deck of playing cards. He has performed for audiences that include Michael Jackson, Elton John, and Leonardo Di Caprio. Mckee is active in giving back to the community that uplifted him, most notably through his humanitarian work serving youth at home and abroad. He serves on the advisory board for Vista Del Mar in Los Angeles and has dedicated the last 10 years to teaching underprivileged and at risk youth with charities like United In Harmony and The Union Rescue Mission. Through self initiated events Derek has raised over 20,000 pounds of canned food for food banks across the country. 1. What do the ticket type mean when I purchase my Table? Our theater has 3 tiers of sections for seating. VIP Front Row Seating has a full lounge style seating next to the stage, Center Row Seating is the next level up with the same seating as the previous tier but centered on the stage for best viewing. General Admission also has comfortable lounge seating or bar stools but is further away from the screen. 2. How do I cancel my order? We understand that emergencies happen, and we want to help. Reservations can be canceled up to 8hrs before the event. After that, ticket sales are final and will be denied any refund requests. 3. What type of food and drink is available? The Roosevelt Theater has a full bar with a wide selection of specialty cocktails to choose from and a small bites menu . 4. Can I come earlier to get a better seat? Doors open 45min before the show starts. However, seats are assigned by the ticket type you purchased through Eventbrite. 5. Is Parking Available, and where do I go? The hotel has Valet Parking available at $15 +tax for three hours with validation from the Bar. 6. What is your COVID protocols? According to current LA County CDC guidelines.
