Pair Arrested After Hit-And-Run With Stolen Concord Car: Cops

HOOKSETT, NH — A Pittsfield man and Concord woman, both with prior felony charges, were arrested in Hooksett on Monday accused of being involved in a hit-and-run incident with a stolen car. Around 6 p.m., police received a report of a crash on Hooksett Road near Dartmouth Street. A witness reported the registration information of the vehicle and Hooksett police traced it back to a 2013 Audi that was reported stolen out of Concord, according to Sgt. David Scarpino of the Hooksett Police Department. "A Hooksett officer later located the Audi getting on to Interstate 93 southbound," he said. "Hooksett officers and a NH State trooper conducted a high risk stop on the Audi and detained its four occupants." Police accused Nathan Bergeron, 24, of Pittsfield of operating the Audi during the crash and then, fleeing from the accident. At some time between the crash and the stop by police, he switched seats with Leah Jameson, 22, of Concord, Scarpino said. She was operating the vehicle when it was stopped, he added. Bergeron was arrested and charged with felony receiving stolen property, conduct after an accident, and driving after revocation or suspension. Bergeron, who was out on probation, was placed on a 72-hold and taken to the Merrimack County Jail. He is expected to be arraigned Tuesday. Jameson was released on personal recognizance bail. Scarpino said the department has impounded the Audi and is requesting a search warrant. Additional charges are expected. The two other occupants in the vehicle were released and were not injured during the crash, he said. Bergeron is now stranger to police. Back in 2017, he was arrested on drug dealing, theft, and other charges in Concord. He was arrested and indicted on attempted sale of meth and sale of meth in Concord in 2017. Bergeron pleaded guilty to a felony reckless conduct charge in February 2018 after an incident in Epsom that involved driving while intoxicated, unauthorized use, reckless operation, and other charges that were dropped as part of a plea deal. In February 2018, he was also convicted on a felony forgery and drug charges in Concord. Bergeron was also convicted on a resisting arrest charge while in the Merrimack County Jail in Boscawen in May 2018. In August 2018, he was arrested in Concord on robbery, criminal threatening, theft, and assault charges but pleaded down to theft and assault. Bergeron was also convicted on a controlled drug act charge in July 2019 in Barnstead. He was arrested in Concord in September 2020 after a traffic stop on Green Street. Jameson, according to the Merrimack County Superior Court, has an active drug case out of Bow from June 2020. She is due back in court for a dispositional conference hearing on that charge Jan. 27. She also has four active drug and evidence charges in Belknap County Superior Court after incidents last year in Belmont and Gilford. She has also been arrested in Concord on theft, receiving stolen property, criminal trespass, and warrants for failure to appear and other issues during the past few years.
