We would love for you to join us for a morning of fun, fitness and fellowship and in turn donate to this wonderful cause. Any amount helps and will be greatly appreciated, both by Maritza and her family and friends! Please bring a mat and water bottle. Modifications will be given for any advanced exercises and all attendees will be encouraged to work at a level that is comfortable for them. Now the reason for this pop up event: Maritza DeJesus is someone who can be defined in one word…altruistic. She is genuinely kind, compassionate and always willing to help people; she has a heart of pure gold. She does not hesitate to put the needs of others before herself, and many consider her a dear friend or beloved sister. Maritza is a business owner and an active member of both communities where she lives and works. Maritza’s House of Style has been a staple in the Hummelstown community. However, in July 2020, the quaint corner shop was sold without Maritza’s knowledge. The new owner plans to demolish the building and put a parking lot in its place for the local bar. The lease Maritza signed two decades ago gave her “right of first refusal” to buy the property. She has since taken this matter to court; however, the new owner has secured the demolition permit by the borough. Now she is forced to vacate the premises that she has occupied for the past 20 years. The building sold for $140,000. She could have easily purchased the property if she had been given the opportunity. Instead, massive real estate hikes and legal fees are making matters extremely difficult for her to continue her business. Facing the chance she would have to close up shop…forever. Maritza has built a solid business through hard work and perseverance. The money raised will go directly to Maritza to help with legal fees to continue fighting and purchase a property so she can continue running Maritza’s House of Style in the community where she belongs.
