Join us as we host Church World Service staff and hear from several new residents to hear their stories of arrival in Lancaster. For many years, CWS has been re-settling newcomers to our internationally-recognized city of welcome. Come hear brief presentations from: Apsara Uprety, a refugee community leader and graduate student at Millersville University (MU). She is a Lancaster resident and a former Bhutanese refugee, originally from Nepal, and is involved in peer mentoring, community service, and advocacy. Shawn Smucker, author of the 2018 memoir Once We Were Strangers.Andrew Mashas, Community and Faith-Based Engagement Specialist for CWS Lancaster.Rachel Helwig, Development and Communications Manager for CWS Lancaster.Bring your questions for any of our presenters, and enjoy coffee and Stroopies.
