Description

PLEASANTON, CA — Get a real Christmas tree this year? Be sure to leave it on your curb in the coming days or schedule a pickup with local Boy Scout Troop 941. The troop's annual pickup will take place beginning 8 a.m. Saturday and donations will go toward camping equipment and other scouting activities, according to the troop. Anyone interested must sign up here no later than Tuesday. Flocked trees will be accepted. The scouts intend to collect more than 1,000 trees and turn them into 15 tons of mulch, according to Pleasanton Garbage Service. Pleasanton Garbage Service will pick up trees on regular collection days from Jan. 11 to Jan. 22. Artificial and flocked trees will not be accepted. Residents must cut trees into four-foot lengths and place them curbside the night before pickup is scheduled, or cut trees into two-footh lengths and place them into green waste containers. Miss the pickup day? Trees can still be brought to the Pleasanton Garbage Service Transfer Station at 3110 Busch Road until Jan. 31, at no charge. Call the office at 925-846-2042 before arranging a drop-off. Whether you choose the scouts or Pleasanton Garbage Service, be sure to remove any decorations, tree stands or other items from the tree, as trees will be composted.
