Description
Why are we still having an A I D S walk? I really don't think it's' to remember all those who have died in the 80's and 90's. That's what the Vigil was all about, and we don't have that event anymore. I have to believe that the walk is nothing more than an opportunity for the CENTER to pull in some easy bucks from an uneducated public who don't seem to have a clue that there hasn't been a problem for those with HIV in 2 decades. We really don't have AIDS organizations anymore and the few that still exist provide services that could easily be provided by other organizations or as in the case of ADAP be done with a phone call or by mail. People who donate some of their hard-earned money need to spend some time doing their homework and find causes that are in the most need. Homelessness for one. Worldwide starvation and clean water another. One thing is for sure is that there is no need for an A I D S walk anymore. Please contact the Center and let them know its time to stop milking the issue and move on.
