Apartment maintenance technicians are responsible for the upkeep of apartment complexes, condominiums, and other residential properties. They commonly work under the direction of property managers to ensure that all residents have a clean, safe, and functional living space. Apartment maintenance technicians may be tasked with a variety of different duties depending on the size and scope of their employer’s business. These might include anything from minor repairs (such as fixing leaky faucets or replacing broken light bulbs) to major renovations (such as installing new flooring or repairing structural damage). Apartment Maintenance Technician Job Duties Apartment maintenance technicians have a wide range of responsibilities, which can include: • Cleaning apartments after they have been vacated by previous tenants or prior to new tenants moving in • Installing new appliances and fixtures in apartments, such as dishwashers, refrigerators, or carpeting • Performing basic repairs on plumbing, electrical wiring, or other components in apartments that are not functioning properly • Maintaining apartment complexes by performing tasks such as landscaping, painting, cleaning, and repairing walls • Repairing broken items in apartments, such as faucets or cabinets • Performing routine maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and filters, replacing filters in air conditioning units, and performing plumbing repairs • Maintaining inventory of supplies and materials used in apartment maintenance tasks • Performing any other tasks related to maintenance work for an apartment complex
