Description
The deep state theory appears to have been debunked.
According to The New York Times, the Justice Department’s inquiry into alleged ties between former President Donald Trump and Russia is winding down without any findings of a deep state-driven witch hunt.
Trump and his followers have theorized that the John Durham investigation into Trump’s ties with Russia was a former President Barack Obama-driven conspiracy to sabotage him.
However, Durham’s three-year inquiry has not provided the results Trump was expecting, according to The New York Times. The grand jury that Durham used to hear evidence has expired, but he could seek another.
There are currently no plans to do so, sources told The New York Times.
Durham and Co. are planning to finish a final report by the end of 2022, according to The New York Times.
The Justice Department’s inquiry has developed cases against two people who allegedly lied to the FBI in connection to outside efforts to investigate purported ties between Trump and Russia, though no one has been charged with conspiracy, and no high-level officials have been put on trial.
Whehter or not the findings of the report become public when finished will be up to Attorney General Merrick Garland.
