The Facilities Assistant ensures well-maintained, clean, and safe indoor and outdoor spaces, creating a positive environment for all visitors by maintaining the buildings and grounds that comprise Discovery Museum’s 4.5 acre campus. Responsibilities include assisting in the parking lot during peak visitation periods and coordinating youth volunteer groups. Also, helping to maintain outdoor spaces including wooded areas, gardens, and Discovery Woods, the Museum’s nature playscape, as well as indoor spaces including exhibit galleries, staff workspaces and offices, building systems, and storage and maintenance spaces. Work ranges from yardwork, clearing trash and debris, and light gardening to painting and jobs with heavier lifting. The Facilities Assistant also provides support for Museum exhibits and supplies on the exhibit floor, event set-up and take down, and other tasks as needed.
