This is a popular MYTH started by the Democrats. Just another lie-and-smear campaign, for which the Democrats are famous. The Republicans took the Blacks slaves away from the Democrats. In 1860, the year before the Civil War, NO Republicans owned slaves; ALL of the slaves were owned by DEMOCRATS. After the Civil War, in a fit of rage, the Dems formed the KKK, which I believe was America's first 'domestic terrorist group' For over 100 years, the KKK killed and tortured Blacks and anyone who supported Black freedom. You want to know what changed? In the 1960's, Democrat Lyndon Johnson was able to bring Blacks back to the Democrat party by giving them FREE STUFF. The New Deal welfare program. Blacks were fooled into thinking the free stuff was a message that Democrats suddenly liked them. In reality, the 'free stuff' was just another way to enslave Blacks and get their votes.
