A Landscape Specialist must be energetic, teachable, able to follow instructions, and work well as part of a team to achieve daily and general project goals in an efficient and effective manner. The person in this position must be comfortable working vigorously in a variety of outdoor conditions for extended periods of time, and do so with a positive attitude. Duties and Responsibilities of a Landscape Specialist ● Assist the Lead Landscape Specialist in activities such as excavation, grading, hardscape construction, planting, drainage and irrigation work, equipment operation, and other duties as assigned, both at the shop and on the job site. ● Follow relevant industry standards, engineering specifications, and other project specifications (compaction, fall, level, etc.) when applicable. ● Help ensure safety of self, other crew members, and bystanders on and near job sites through proper use of PPE and other safety equipment. ● Safe and skilled operation of machinery such as mini-excavators, skid loaders, compactors, concrete saws, bed edgers, sod cutters, chainsaws, and various other tools and equipment. ● Safe and skilled driving of a loaded truck and equipment trailer (non-CDL) across the greater Kansas City metro area when needed. ● Possess a strong aptitude for listening to and following detailed instructions, as well as a desire to learn and receive training in a variety of landscape processes. ● Utilize basic technology and phone or tablet apps on a daily basis for clocking in and out, submitting reports, navigating the city, etc. ● Be flexible, adaptable, creative, and value and exhibit attention to detail. ● Be willing to occasionally perform other duties as assigned such as landscape maintenance, snow removal, etc. Requirements ● Have a valid driver's license and good driving record (if driving vehicles). ● Be able to work vigorously outdoors in all weather conditions (cold, hot, rainy, etc). ● Be able to lift and move heavy objects for extended periods of time on a daily basis. ● Have reliable transportation to and from work, and be willing to drive a personal vehicle to the jobsite occasionally when needed. ● Be willing to be at work on time every day and work a standard 40 hour, M-F work week with occasional overtime and weekend hours as needed. 816.974.3462 [email protected] www.dtekc.com Landscape Specialist Job Description Position Title: Landscape Specialist Job Type: Full-time (possibly seasonal) Direct Report: Lead Landscape Specialist Starting Pay: $15-18 depending on knowledge, education, and experience. All new hires must complete a 90 probationary period, at which time pay raises will be considered based on the manner in which the probationary period is completed.
