Join the Rapides Parish Library as we kickoff our 2022 Rapides Reads community event with food, music, exhibits, door prizes, and book giveaways! Rapides Reads is a parish-wide program that encourages our entire community to engage in a shared reading experience. The goal is to broaden our understanding of our world, our neighbors, and ourselves by reading the same book and discussing how its themes relate to our common experiences. The 2022 book reading selection is The Book of Lost Friends by New York Times bestselling author Lisa Wingate, selected in part because of its Louisiana setting and the historical significance of the Lost Friends history that inspired it. Join us September 16 for the kick-off reception, September 29 for a live Zoom panel discussion with the author, on October 20 for a Lost Friends documentary screening and discussion, and throughout the reading period for book club discussions and more!
